What is Atchafalaya Swamp?


The Atchafalaya Swamp (or Atchafalaya Basin) is a swamp located in South Central Louisiana. At 595,000 acres, it's the biggest swamp in the United States. The Basin supports more than 300 species of birds, 100 species of fish, 40 mammalian species, 40 reptilian species, and 20 amphibian species!

What is Carpenteria Salt Marsh?

Carpenteria Salt Marsh is a fascinating wetland located in Southern California. It gets its water from two nearby creeks and the Pacific Ocean. It is an estuary, which means that its water is a mix of fresh water and salty water. This salt marsh is less salty than the ocean, but the water is still to salty to drink. The marsh is home to many unique and rare plants and animals, some of them endangered.
